FISSURE SEALANTS
The recesses and grooves on the upper side of the tooth, which we call fissures, are filled with a gel-like material and hardened with special light devices. It can be expressed as a kind of filling and is a preventive treatment applied to prevent future caries.
Especially in children, newly erupted teeth are more prone to caries, since the enamel of newly erupted teeth is not fully mature. For this reason, it is very important to protect the teeth with protective methods such as fissure sealants in this period when the tooth is most resistant at an early age.
The ideal time for fissure sealants is when the teeth complete their eruption. While the permanent first molar erupts around 6-7 years of age, the second molars erupts around 12-13 years old Fissure sealants can be applied to milk molars, permanent premolars and molars.
There is absolutely no pain, and at the same time, no anesthesia is applied in the fissure sealant application, that is, the tooth is not anesthetized.
Fluoride application
Fluoride, which is among the protective applications, is an element that prevents tooth decay and strengthens the structure of the teeth. Fluoride greatly reduces bacterial plaque formation and caries formation on teeth.
