WISDOM TEETH SURGERY

Wisdom teeth are the third molars at the back of the mouth that do not normally have enough space for them to emerge or develop. Wisdom teeth are the last adult teeth to erupt in the mouth. Most people have four wisdom teeth at the back of the mouth; two above, two below.

Impacted wisdom teeth can cause pain, damage to other teeth, and gum problems along with other dental problems. In some cases, impacted wisdom teeth may not cause an immediate problem, but they may be more vulnerable to tooth decay and gum disease than other teeth because they are difficult to clean in the posterior regions.

Impacted wisdom teeth that cause pain or other dental complications are usually recommended to be extracted. Some dentists and maxillofacial surgeons also recommend removing impacted wisdom teeth that are not causing symptoms to prevent future problems.

The duration of the extraction depends on many factors such as the anatomical position of the tooth and the patient's complaints and systemic condition.
